Drill Machine for AC Installation: Bracket Holes and the Pipe Hole
Small holes, one big hole, and screws: the Bosch machines an AC fitter needs, and what they cost.

An AC installation asks three different things of a drill: a few small holes for the outdoor bracket and the indoor plate, one large hole through the wall for the pipes, drain and cable, and screws. The first is easy for almost any Bosch drill, the second is not, and buying for the wrong one is the usual mistake — a fitter who only needs bracket holes does not need a ₹17,000 machine, and one who cuts pipe holes every day needs a machine Bosch rate for core cutters.

Bracket holes: GSB 600 or GBH 220
Brick and plaster — GSB 600, ₹2,912
600 W, 13 mm chuck, and Bosch rate it for 13 mm in concrete and masonry. Most anchor holes for brackets and indoor plates are well inside that. It weighs 1.7 kg, which matters on a ladder.
RCC columns and beams — GBH 220, ₹5,055
When the bracket goes on a concrete column or beam, an impact drill struggles. The GBH 220 is an SDS plus rotary hammer — 720 W, 2 J, 4–22 mm in concrete, 2.3 kg. Bosch list three modes for it: hammer drilling, drilling and chiselling. Why a rotary hammer goes through RCC where an impact drill does not is explained in drill machine for a concrete wall.
The pipe hole: a core-cutter job
The hole the copper pipes, drain and cable go through is much larger than an anchor hole, and its size follows that bundle and the core cutter in your kit — ask your installer or measure what you pass through. Holes that size are cut with a core cutter on a rotary hammer, not with a solid bit.
- GBH 2-28 DV — ₹17,476. 850 W, 3.2 J, 2.9 kg, SDS plus. Bosch rate it for core cutters from 16 to 68 mm in concrete, and 4–28 mm with solid hammer bits.
- Bigger than 68 mm, or thick RCC every day? SDS-max hammers take larger core cutters — the GBH 5-40 D is rated 40–90 mm. See the SDS-max rotary hammer price list.
- Not the GBH 220 or GSB 600. Bosch give no core-cutter figure for either, so we do not recommend them for pipe holes.
The small tools that finish the job
- GSR 120-LI, ₹3,779. 12V drill driver with one 2.0 Ah battery, 14/30 Nm, 10 mm chuck — for the bracket bolts, the indoor plate screws and the cover. More on the cordless drill price list.
- GLL3X, ₹6,298. Line laser, 15 m, ± 0.5 mm/m, self-levelling within ± 4°: one line across the wall gives a level plate before you mark the holes. Other models on the laser level price list.
- GVD 1000-17, ₹2,085. Non-contact voltage tester, 1,000 V AC, CAT IV, IP67 — Bosch say it detects from 24 V. Check the point and the old wiring before you connect.

- Bracket kit — ₹17,217: GBH 220, GSR 120-LI, GLL3X, GVD 1000-17. Swap the GBH 220 for a GSB 600 if you only work on brick: ₹15,074.
- Bracket and pipe-hole kit — ₹29,638: the same, with the GBH 2-28 DV in place of the GBH 220.

Payment terms are agreed on the call for each order: full advance, part advance, or payment on delivery. In Delhi NCR we send it by Porter, often the same day; outside NCR by transport.
