A magnetic drill — “mag drill”, or core cutting machine on site — clamps itself to a steel beam or plate with an electromagnet and drills with an annular cutter, which cuts only a ring and leaves a solid slug. It is the machine for bolt holes in structural steel, where a hand drill would wander and a pillar drill cannot reach. GBM 50-2 — ₹86,253
Bosch's description calls it a magnetic core drill for metal core drilling, twist drilling and threading metal. The figures on its page: 1,200 W, a Morse taper MT 2 (DIN 228) holder, two gears — 50 to 250 rpm and 100 to 510 rpm — 14.7 kg, and a drilling diameter in steel of 1.5 to 50 mm. Bosch also lists a laser for lining up on the centre-punch mark, and a power cut-off designed to prevent electric shock.
- Two gears matter. Large cutters want the slow gear; small holes and twist drills want the fast one. A single-speed machine is a compromise at one end or the other.
- The MT 2 holder takes Morse-taper tooling as well as cutter arbors, which is what lets the same machine twist-drill and tap.
- Who buys it: structural steel fabricators, PEB and shed erectors, crane and conveyor maintenance teams, factory maintenance departments.
GBM 38 — ₹29,117
The smaller, lighter machine at 10.5 kg. Bosch describe it as compact and low-weight for working overhead and at height, with a drilling capacity of 12–38 mm that they say covers at least 85% of applications, at 450 rpm and 1,050 W. If your holes are M12 to M30 bolt holes and you carry the machine up ladders and onto beams, this is the sensible one. Which one
Holes above 38 mm, threading, or heavy daily shop-floor use: GBM 50-2. Bolt holes up to 38 mm, especially at height: GBM 38, at roughly a third of the price. The difference between them is ₹57,136.

Is a core cutting machine the same as a magnetic drill?
On a fabrication site, yes — “core cutting machine” usually means a magnetic drill running an annular (core) cutter in steel. It is not the same as a diamond core drill for concrete, which is a different machine.
Does the price include cutters?
Do not assume so. The price is for the machine as Bosch packs it; ask us what is in the box before you order. We do not sell cutters separately.
Can the GBM 50-2 do tapping?
Bosch's own description lists threading metal among its jobs, alongside core drilling and twist drilling.
Are these prices with GST?
Yes, all prices include 18% GST, with a GST invoice on every order. Before GST, the GBM 50-2 is ₹73,096 and the GBM 38 is ₹24,675. A GST-registered buyer can read what a proper tool invoice must show.
What does delivery cost?
